I think your color scheme for this is already quite good, however I also think
that your background is somewhat crowded and random at the moment. I suggest you
reduce the number of text effects a lot and instead concentrate on the
designs/brushes and their placement, maybe you could also try to make them look
less blurry. I don't know if that image is already your real resolution in case
that it is I would suggest that you make your wallpaper at a higher resolution
because currently it is really small (don't know if that would involve
vectoring).
Good luck to you.
I suggest you create a new thread for your new wallpaper next time.
As for your wallpapers the problems are similar to those in the older walls, the
scan quality is low in both walls, it also seems like you made too heavy use of
smart blurr on the Geass scan.
The background in the Geass wallpaper looks rather overfiltered and the colours
don't really fit. If you want to keep a filtered background I suggest that you
tone it down a little and apply different colors (warmer colors would be better
in my opininon).
The second wall seems a little overcrowded with the little images, I'd throw
them out and try to get a less blurry background.
Hope that helps you out a little, even if it sounded rather harsh. Before you
work any further on these wallies you should really look for better scans or try
to vector your images.
Personally I think it doesn't look good, but there's no sense in discussing it,
it's forbidden and that means you'll have to live with it.
I also think that the first point is quite valid, to me your wallpaper looks
simply like some scan slapped onto a plain background, with some other low
opacity pictures floating senselessly around. Nothing shows that you put some
thought into your compostition everything looks rather random.
Maybe you should take a look around in the elite gallery so you get an idea of
what a really good wallpaper should look like and eventually collect idea's for
your own works.
Calm down a little, nobody here hates you and mods don't delete images because
they hate someone but because your work was against the policy.
Quote: Minitokyo Policy says:
You may not submit any artwork which when viewed is clearly indicative of
extremely low quality and effort. The following compositional and technical
weaknesses may result in the deletion of your artwork if they are significantly
present in the submission:
(...) * no effort in integrating the background and
foreground,
(...) * "ghosting," the use of a character
image on low opacity in the background,
(...)
I suppose those are the rules you broke and my suggestion is that you try to
think of a decent idea for your backgrounds.
Seeing the photo clears things up a little, I guess it's pretty hard to vector
plushies but maybe you should try to fix things that seem odd to you (like the
eyes).
As you want to stick with your original idea for the soubi wallpaper my only
further advice would be that you really put all your hard work into the
outlines. If I were you I'd try to use filled outlines ,here's
a tut for that which I found on Vectory. Kuroimisa made a wall once
that was similar to your idea I think so maybe you want to take a look at it as
well.
The composition of Valentines Day wallpaper is already pretty good, I only
noticed some flaws in your execution. For example the brown bears eyes have
different sizes and the shape of his heart looks a little weird, the pink bears
arm and face look slightly odd (the way his nose is above his arm). Also the
bears outlines look blurryer than the big hearts outlines for some reason.
Because you mentioned it's supposed to look like a children's drawing I'm not
sure to what degree this is intentional.
I guess I understand what you aimed for in the second wall but my personal
opinion is that the lineart can't stand on it's own because it has too little
detail and compared to his eye his body looks rather hollow as well. My advice
would be that you vector him monochrome ( in black, white, grey) and only use
colour on his eye the butterfly and the flower (the way it's done in this
wallpaper).
"You may not use unmodified stock images for background purposes. For the
purposes of this policy, an image is "unmodified" if it has not
undergone any editing or if it has undergone only basic editing, such as
resizing, retouching, or cropping."
Says the policy and I think your wallpapers could be deleted for this reason
because even though you used some brushes, the actual background photos remained
unaltered. I suggest that you try to work with your backgrounds before you
submit the wallies even if you think you're not good at it yet, I'm sure you can
do it (everybody is starting as a beginner).
I'm not really an expert on photos but you could use some filters or try to
paint over them.
Last but not least I agree with misteruga, and in your Matsuri Shihou wallpaper
the extraction has some white spots in the upper left as well.
Good luck with your work.
The only things I can suggest are waterlilies (which probably wouldn't make much
sense) or a reflection of the sky, or buildings whichever you'd like.
Another suggestion is to leave out the brush effect in the lower left corner, I
don't think it fits your overall idea of a rather realistic background.
This wallpaper is actually really old (around a year or so) and I don't feel
like posting it in any of the galleries + the resolution isn't featured on
MT.
It's vectored off a screenshot I got from
Memento.
Really simplistic stuff, the patterns were taken from Hybrid Genesis.
Hey the vector looks great. My idea for your background:
You could try to have several mountainpeaks emerge from the clouds/fog, like
it's often done in chinese landscape paintings.
Like in this one for example:(image
found on this website) click here
or make it look like in this one
Good luck for you.
Beside the scan quality your extraction seems to be jagged too. If you don't
have the scan in a better quality right now , maybe you could try to look for
the same, or a similar one in the galleries. Bleach is a rather popular series
so maybe you're lucky. Another thing I would criticise are the brushes you used,
you only used them for the left side of your wall and they don't really blend in
that well. I would try to rearrange the placement of your character and have the
brushes spread out over all your background as well as have them blend in (maybe
playing a little with the transparence?). As you seem to go for a splatter
effect I might also direct you to Tama-Neko's website which has nice
splatter brushes.
I don't think this would be accepted because it's actually just a blending of
two different scans, which would be low effort. You should try to focus on one
of them and do a decent background for it.
I believe this one doesn't meet MT standards because the buildings in your
background are way too blurry.
Your wall seems too busy for me, the checkered background plus all the stars and
lines are somewhat too much. My suggestion would be that you try to work with
stock images of a city as a reference.
I guess it was deleted because of low effort. I assume that you've taken the
vector from Minitokyo. So in that case you have to put more effort in the
background.
The only thing I can actually think of is too put her on a wooden flooror maybe
tatami. You could try to add some objects like the balls Ai plays with from time
to time, the straw dolls, those cherries she's eating often, or some spider
lilies. Those are just some things that appear in the anime (and are kind of
associated with her) I'm sure you can think of something else too.
Good luck to you.
I guess I shall explain myself here.
When I submited my scan I was relying on the knowledge that this wall hadn't been
deleted even though it was anime unrelated art nouveau. While I was looking it
up once more I realised that it had been added to the vector art gallery (not
general wallpapers as I had assumed).
So it was indeed my own mistake and I apologize for any inconvenience.
I never said though that I believe moderators get preffered treatment over
normal members.
Well this scan lastet only about five minutes in the gallery, lol.
It's odd though that they're placing it in quarantine, after all there's loads
of art noveau in the wallpaper section (anime unrelated as well).
After I went out of my way to scan it I might just as well put it up here. It's
scanned from a tin box I got from my great grandmother, artist is unknown sadly.
Hope you enjoy. I had to resize the image even more to upload it on imageshack,
so if any of you want the original scan pm me or write something in my
guestbook.
Edit:
Minitokyo is trying to drive me crazy I think could someone delete the other two
copies of this?

I suggest you try out The GIMP, it's a free programm and all the important
functions are in it. I do all my wallies with this programm and it was enough to
get some highlight's too, so don't feel down because you haven't got
photoshop.
I suggest that first of all you should learn how to use paths because that's
actually the most important and elemental tool for walling. It can help you draw
decent backgrounds and it helps to make clean extractions as well.
Good luck on your way to become a pro waller, everyone here started out as a
beginner keep that in mind (I'm still ashamed for some of the crap I started out
with )
